"Aww... That's very kind of you... And very nice for me to hear thank you very much"
It's like a few weeks ago when somebody said that "it's special to think someone notices you"
Sorry to the main leads but I spend about 75% of my time watching the Ensemble in everything I see (And 25% for my fav main leads) You get so much more outta a show like that. I can very rarely tell you what Jane in Tarzan or Galileo in Rock you is like, but I can tell you with 100% certainty which particular ensemble members did a stupid thing during a speical scene.
And I love it when I see members of the ensemble as part of another ensemble in a very different show so that I can see their incredible range. Or a swing in a show with many different tracks. Keep up the good work, I for one support you in everything you do - I travelled to another country to see one of the Rock you dancers again, and I know I would never do that for some main leads I've seen during the last years.
And I realised they appreciate someone being there to say hello at SD particularly when others walk straight past them to get to the leads, because they don't want to talk to them or they don't know them - I've seen this twice, at Mamma Mia last year and Tarzan this year when I heard them saying "Who the hell is this"
Most leads have been ensemble at some point in their career but perhaps those that aren't as keen on theatre as we all are only get to know about them when they become more famous. I absolutely love a show with a strong ensemble and swings.
Next time you see a show you've seen a few times, pick out a random ensemble member to watch the whole time. I promise it'll enrich your theatre experience.
